Running time: 105 minutes

Kontroll, the most frequently mentioned Hungarian movie on the Internet, tells the story of a young man, Búlcsú, and his colleagues working as ticket inspectors in Budapest’s hostile subway system, where they have to deal with a band of rival controllers, grumpy passengers, and a dangerous system of underground hierarchy on a daily basis. On top of it all, a possible murder mystery seems to be evolving with riders “jumping” to their deaths onto the tracks. And when love arrives in the shape of an eccentric young woman, Búlcsú finally sees his chance to escape his subterranean life and join the real world…

The film enjoys widespread international recognition; it won the Golden Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival and was screened at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.
